For a Palestinian:
A Memorial to Wael Zuaiter
edited by Janet Venn-Brown
Wael Zuaiter
was a Palestinian intellectual, poet, and
a spokesman for the Palestinian cause. He
was assassinated by Mossad agents on October
16, 1972, who shot him 12-18 times (accounts
vary) in the lobby of his apartment building
in Rome. The Israeli government, under Golda
Meir, had issued his death warrant on the
claim that he was involved in "PLO
terrorism."
This book
is a collection of essays, poems, memoirs,
and drawings in memory of Wael Zuaiter,
and is as much about the Palestinian people
as about one man.
